If you want to try dog aromatherapy, here are two essential oils to get you started. It's a good idea to spot test to make sure the dog is not sensitive to an essential oil.
Lavender helps calm both people and animals. If your dog is stressed or upset, put a drop of lavender on her bed or blanket, or you can rub it (diluted in a little vegetable oil) into her paws for instant relief.
If your dog has an upset stomach or motion sickness, use peppermint essential oil. Put a couple drops on the dog's bed or blanket, or blend with vegetable oil and rub into the dog's paws. You can even mix a tiny bit of prepared peppermint tea into the dog's water. Note: Peppermint is not a cure for vomiting or prolonged stomach trouble. If your dog becomes sick for no apparent reason, see a vet immediately.
