Study Identifies Six Anti-Inflammatory Essential Oils

Aromatherapists have long said that some essential oils help reduce inflammation. A study published in the January 2010 issue of Journal of Lipid Research reports that thyme, clove, rose, eucalyptus, fennel, and bergamot essential oils suppress the COX-2 enzyme, an enzyme responsible for inflammation and pain. The researchers identified carvacrol as the major anti-inflammatory component of thyme essential oil.
