Essential Oil Cancer Research

With the recent publication of a study that showed that frankincense essential oil "suppressed cell viability in bladder transitional carcinoma J82 cells," I started wondering about other research with essential oils and cancer.

I found a little booklet titled Essential Oil Cancer Research by Nicole Stevens that describes a screening with 69 essential oils that showed 58% of them were active against at least one cancer cell line by at least 70%. She also summarizes some other research done with frankincense, lemongrass, peppermint, lavender, rosemary, and sandalwood essential oils.

Much of the research has only been done with cancer cells in the lab. Let's hope researchers start expanding their studies to people.
