You can dilute Balsam Fir in a carrier oil to massage muscular, arthritic, back, and rheumatic aches and pain and inflammation. It may also be useful for supporting the respiratory system when experiencing conditions such as bronchitis, catarrh, chronic coughs, sore throat, colds, and flu.
Emotionally this essential oil is said to be grounding, stimulating the mind while relaxing the body. You can diffuse it for a refreshing and uplifting scent.
There are different varieties of Balsam Fir. Young Living produces a Balsam Fir essential oil from a harvest in northern Idaho.
In late January and early February 2009, Gary Young and others were in northern Idaho, near the Canadian border, sustainably harvesting and steam distilling Idaho Balsam Fir. Why harvest in Idaho during the frozen dark of winter?
Gary has cut, distilled, and tested the fir tree during each month of the year, and has found (through testing in the Young Living lab) that it’s medicinal properties and chemical constituents are most potent during the Idaho winter. Gary said, "The trees are saturated with essential oil during these coldest months; the oils protect the needles from freezing."
This attention to detail is one example of why Young Living’s essential oils are among the best in the world and why there's the Young Living Therapeutic Grade (YLTG) Promise: Every essential oil Young Living distills or sources has the highest naturally-occurring blend of constituents to maximize the desired therapeutic effect.
The key constituents of Young Living's Idaho Balsam Fir are
Alpha-Pinene (28-49%)
Beta Pinene (14-24%)
Camphene (13-20%)
Limonene (13-20%)
Possible skin sensitivity. If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult your physician. Do not use near fire, flame, heat or sparks.
