Aromatherapy for Menstrual Cramps

If you want to try aromatherapy for menstrual cramps, Aromatherapy for Dummies recommends the following muscle-relaxing massage oil:
12 drops lavender
8 drops ginger
4 drops marjoram
4 drops roman chamomile
1 ounce carrier oil

Gently massage your abdomen, lower back, and any other areas you can! Or get a professional massage.

According to Aromatherapy Massage, other essential oils that may help relieve menstrual cramps are:
  • clary sage
  • geranium
  • jasmine
  • marjoram
  • melissa
  • roman chamomile
  • rose
Add 8 drops essential oil to 20 ml (4 teaspoons) carrier oil for a massage. Or take a relaxing warm bath with 4 drops of added essential oil.

If water retention is a problem, blend the following essential oils with one teaspoon of carrier oil or milk and add the blend to your bath:
3 drops cypress
2 drops lemon
1 drop peppermint
